    Silly question, I admit, but...
has apple included the word "iPad" in the iPhone's dictionary with the latest 3.1.3 update, so that it auto corrects to "iPad" when you type "ipad"?
I'm still on 3.1.2 and just curious.
It would certainly come in handy when posting here!

I don't really have an answer to your question but I do have a suggestion.

I added iPad to the my iPhone dictionary.

The iPhone remembers names and places in your contacts list. So I made a contact named 'Dictionary' then I filled in the location field with a long list of words that I want the iPhone to remember now including iPad.

I live in China so there are many Chinese words that I want the phone to remember when I write them in English letters. Quite a few swear words too. Every time I come across a word I want to use regularly but the iPhone doesn't know it, I add to this contact. It all syncs so i never have to worry about it again.

Actually, no 3.1.3 still doesn't know iPad by default. You either have to add it or as I would suspect, wait for the next version.

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately it doesn't work for me.
I don't see a "location" field under contacts, but I tried a few other fields and it didn't work. Do I need to reboot or sync for the changes to take effect?
