I have owned most of the iPhones that have been on the market. Most recently an iPhone 15 Pro and an iPhone 16. The 15 Pro was sold due to poor battery life. The iPhone 16 is a good phone, but I find that calls are dropped all the time. I am strongly considering just buying an iPhone 16e. Mostly because of the battery life. For me it seems absolutely magical. Has anyone had any experience with the battery life and is the Iphone 16e good for everyday use?

Thanks.

It's a downgrade from the 16 and 16 Pro if you look at core features only. But when you factor in it's second only to the Pro Max battery life, cheaper price tag, at least compared to the 16, smaller form factor, which many consider an asset, and that it has the same processing power as the rest of the 16 family, minus one GPU core (compared to 16), not a huge deal unless you game a lot, then the 16e becomes an attractive option.

I have been happy with my 16e the last couple months. I do not feel that it is lacking in anyway, day to day use. Some people will go on about it's lackluster value, considering that the 16 is just $200 more, but the question then becomes are those few extra features really worth $200 more. To me they are not.

Or maybe an Iphone 15 on sale could be an alternative? I have had the 15 before and I was quite happy with it.

Could it be a good alternative while waiting for the iphone 17?

If calles drop its either your provider or warranty on the 16. let it check by apple. Just buying a 15 or 16e is a waste of money and downgrade

might as well do it just like me lol, buy a 16 pro max and hold it 5-6 years. just like how I did it with the 11 pro max [a 60hz screen]... which I probably can't use now cos my eye loves the 120Hz screen.

these days phone upgrades are so minuscule lol I can't even tell the diff btw the 16 Pro Max and 11 Pro Max cameras. Sure its 48MP, wider aperture etc and faster but its not as noticeable to me personally [I Use a Z9 for most of my photo work which in those cases I can tell the diff immediately]

Anything without Camera Control is an upgrade..

Joking aside. I sold my iPhone 16 and bought a 16e instead - and I'm happy. My only complaint was the lack of MagSafe, but my Spigen Enzo case fixed that. But I don't notice any change from my 16 to 16e in terms of performance. Everything runs smoothly, and the battery life is brilliant. I can feel a clear update there. But best of all, the Camera Control button is gone (personal preference). Finally, you can get a decent case to put on, without a cutout, and you don't have to hit the camera button every time you take the phone out of your pocket.

It sounds like you’re addicted to buying new iPhones, and are particularly susceptible to marketing. My recommendation would be to pause on the new phone purchases for a year or two. Take it from someone who's overcome the same addiction, you will never find a new phone that will make your life meaningfully better by upgrading every few months.

The 16e would suffice for most people for 90% of what they do but, have to have the latest and greatest because…..

You can certainly argue that the iPhone 16e is the latest iPhone right now. But you're right, there are many who buy their next iPhone without thinking about their real needs. But just because it's the latest and greatest. My dad used to do that - he always bought the iPhone with maximum memory, until I pointed out that it was a waste of money, since he used 10 apps, and didn't save any music, movies or especially many pictures on the phone.

I'm on an 8 and I am pondering between a 16e and 15 and 14... oh, heck... a 14 pro.....

No deals from Verizon to make anything obvious, choicewise....

for me, the latest and greatest "everything" is balanced out by price and feature sets I can live with. And new versus refurbished, when it comes to battery health.

If I were you, I would cut the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro out of your considerations, and focus on either the iPhone 15 or 16e. The 14 series are now old, and since you are still using an iPhone 8, it tells me that you will keep your iPhone for a long time. Which is fine. But for that reason I would go for the latest. The 16e is probably the most future-proof of the models you have in mind. The iPhone 15 is also a super good iPhone, but since it is already excluded from getting Apple Intelligence, I could imagine that model will be excluded from other new features later.

The advantage for you is that you don't buy iPhones that often. Then you might as well pay a little extra and get the latest model, then you are good to go for the next 7-8 years.

Definitely go for the 16e over the 14/15 if you’re going to be keeping it for 5/6+ years. The most future proofed having the A18, 8gb ram & running Apple intelligence which will get new features added as we head into the future 😀
