Buyer backed out. This is why I hate selling stuff online. Too many time wasters. You're going to make me format it, sanitize it, clean it all up nicely for you, pack it up nicely and bring it with me....then you back out. What a joke. That right there deserves a bad rating.
You need to do that once no matter who is buying it, or when, or how many people back out. It's done, other than maybe occasionally ensuring it's charged, leave it in pristine state.

I'm sick of time wasters and people who don't give a **** about your efforts or time. Sometimes I don't even know why I bother, I feel it's just a waste of time and effort.

Maybe I just hold on to the Air. Screw this.

That’s why I hate Kijiji, etc. I may sell my M1 Mac mini on eBay. It’s a 16 GB 1 TB model that I bought used for a decent price though.

I changed my mind. Just to save the stress I'm going to keep the air and I'm going to return the M4 mini. Screw going through this BS. I will try to force myself to come up with different use cases for both MacBooks.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I wrote earlier $900 is not happening. Even $850 would be very lucky, like a parent or professor who needs one today kind of lucky. Set your expectations at $700-$800.

People buying used are price sensitive. They've already accepted the fact they're buying a used item with dings, scratches, and germs without a return policy. You're trying to sell a premium used base model MBA for which the market is so small. They either go cheap or go retail - few in between.

The hassle of selling is why many people take Apple's low-ball offers on trade-ins. If you value your time, the offers aren't as low ball as they seem.

For the time being I'm just going to keep using the Air. Now that I'm returning the M4 Mini, I could have a possible use case for the Air. I may just use it as a bed device. Ive been using it like this for the past week, and find it works great for this use case because of the Air having no vents. So I can put it on dusty bed sheets and (unlike the pro) I don't have to worry about dust and hair getting inside it.

It was quite surprised that the air is a great in the bed laptop.

And then when I need something I'll just trade it into Best Buy.

Who knows maybe I love having the air as a strictly in the bed laptop that I just end up keeping it.

Isn't there a huge market for Mac products in general? Don't think I'm willing to take a 50% loss on something that I haven't even owned for 4 months. That's a bit too steep for my liking.

I may as well use it and if I really don't want it next year, trade it in to Best Buy. There's certain times of the year where they have certain promos that make the trade in worth it. It's usually in the summer.

Like this past summer they had a promo for over a month where you get an extra $150 bonus when you trade in a MacBook to upgrade to the M3 model.

You could just trade in your MBA with Apple for a MacBook that would suit your wife. Have you checked what you would get from Apple as a trade in?

I checked Apples website about a month ago and it said that they're not accepting M3 8GB Air because it's too old. Lol like really?

Hmm… It sounds like you’re trying to force yourself to find a use for it.

Are you sure you looked up the right M3? There was the 2015-2017 m3.

Yup I looked up the correct M3. Best Buy here doesn't even have a listing for the M3 8GB model but they have the M2 8GB. Wierd.

I think I may have a use case for the Air mainly as a in the bed device. This is where I would not use the Pro because I wouldn't want dust to get into the vents on the Pro. Will give it some time to see how it goes but the past week I've been liking the Air as a bed device.

Weird. My daughter traded a base M1 Air towards an M3 Air w/16GB back in March, and got CAD$510 for it. It seemed a reasonable offer.

AUD$550 AUD is CAD$496, so a bit less, for an M4 MBPro? That does seem an insultingly low offer for a higher-spec, higher-class, pretty much new machine. For an offer that low, I'd be looking to sell it myself.

This will make everyone here laugh. Came across this. Used Air M3 8GB models here still selling from $950-$1200CAD. They are making my ad look too good to be true lol.

Check this out one. $1200 and FIRM lol

2024 MacBook Air M3 8GB

Brand new No Box. Purchased October 16 2024 and in new condition. Some background on why I’m selling it: I bought it as a work laptop, then realized that it doesn’t have enough RAM for me to run AutoCAD and Adobe effectively so I had to upgrade to the MacBook Pro. So this is brand new. No trades please. $1200. Price is firm.

In today's market you will only get what someone is willing to pay. If I am buying used off someone I don't know I want a HUGE discount.
This year have bought a 11" M4 256gb cellular 2 weeks old.
And my 16 pro max 512GB was new unopened.
So both worth $4,578AUD from Apple, paid $2,500AUD
Cash is king.

Im assuming you mean $600-700USD.

Have you seen what the 8GB M3 Airs have been selling for on Ebay lately? I was surprised. I may post this on Ebay, I mean it probably can't hurt at this point.

Keep in mind that any ads you see are for ones that HAVEN'T sold. They may show a tendency to over estimate their value.

And that makes me debate whether or not I should even sell mine if I'm going to be taking too much of a loss on it. I just hate throwing money down the toilet. Mine is only 3 and 1/2 months old and still has warranty which should bring up the value.
The resale value is only going to go down from here. It always does.
