Hello! I have been thinking about this for a long time, and I would like to ask for your advice on it... I own an Ipad Pro 10.5 (A1701), and I mainly use it to draw. The 3 programs I use the most are: Medibang Paint Pro, Procreate and IbisPaint.

I'm currently on iOS 12.4.1 and my experience has been good so far. However, Procreate 5 was released some weeks ago and it's no longer compatible with this version. I would love to go ahead and upgrade to iPadOS, but I'm afraid that I might encounter some issues... Specially because my iPad Pro is an old model.

So, do you have any advice? Have you installed iPadOS in this particular model? Are there any issues with it?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm sure iOS 13 will run perfectly fine on your 10.5. I and many other gen 2 owners (i'm on a gen 2 12.9) are enjoying their iPad Pros on the latest version of iOS so don't fret over it and upgrade if you need to in order to continue to use your favorite apps.

Yeah, update it as soon as possible!

I use a 9.7 Pro at work and a 10.5 Pro at home. Both are on 13.3 and they work great.

Like everyone else - I have been using iPad OS for a while now and it is very good, very stable and seems to be good with battery too.

iPad Pro 9.7

My first gen 12.9 works as well in 13 as it did on 12. Not really feeling very different day to day though but everybody has a different use case.

It's that good of an improvement.

What’s so urgent that it needs to be experienced? The slightly better Safari? I’m usually on the latest and I don’t feel much of a change day to day in my iOS work.

Generally speaking it would occasionally help if you could provide the “why” to your thought process- and not just the “do it now”.

Have a second generation 12.9 and iPadOS runs like fine wine on it. Having a far more capable Safari is worth upgrading alone.

it’s worth it alone just being able to download from Safari to iCloud Drive and it’s available on my rMBP and PC

That is certainly nice and due in iOS but I don’t find myself doing that on my iPad much. I appreciate dark mode but again nothing that I needed urgently.

I agree with your point of not updating immediately, I always wait (and let others find bugs).
But the OP can’t upgrade one of their apps while still on iOS 12.

As for performance, an iPad pro (even 1st gen) will run rings around the latest ‘base’ ipad with ipad os.
So definitely update to 13, loads of new features to enjoy 😉

A9X, no not really. More like performance is comparable between 1st gen Pro with A9X and base iPad with A10.

That said, 2nd gen Pro with A10X runs iPadOS 13 perfectly fine.
