Hello, I bought an iPhone 6s Plus. I plan to move from Hong Kong to North America this year. I heard that with Apple Care Plus, there will be international warranty. Is it advisable to get Apple Care Plus? I have already installed a 2.5mm glass screen protector and an Otterbox defender. Not sure if it is worth to spend the money on Apple Care Plus. This is my first iPhone so I do not know the answer. For Macbook Pro, it is always a good idea to get Apple Care.

I'm not sure if you buy Apple Care + in Hong Kong whether it would be honored in North America. Make sure you find out first before you buy it.

One staff in Apple HK told me that even I buy Apple Care+, I don't get international warranty. Another staff told me otherwise. What is the best way to find out the "accurate" answer?

Assuming that the Otterbox Defender and the glass screen protector protect my phone from damage due to drops, what
what are some of the common problems of the iPhone these days?

Do not buy it, for my opinion
Almost don't work, and you have the case to protect it.

Considering you've already put the phone in a hard case and fitted a glass screen protector the isn't much point in buying AC+. You would have to be the unluckiest iphone owner to break your phone in a drop when it's in a defender case.

I've never bothered with AC+ on any of my iphones simply because I've never dropped one. The savings would more than cover me for a replacement phone should I need one at some point if my phone was damaged in a fall.

Without dropping, do components such as camera, battery, etc., fail in two years?

The battery certainly can. And Apple charges $79 US to replace it out of warranty. Some folks try to DIY the battery change out but it's more difficult to do with the newer iPhones.

What other components will most likely fail in two years? Will the cost of repairing will be. I still cannot get a definite official answer from Apple about International Warranty. Some people mentioned that buying Apple Care + would only cover warranty within the country where I purchase Apple Care+. Some mentioned that if I buy it in HK, I can get International Warranty anywhere in the world.

You're asking the wrong people. Apple in Hong Kong can not speak for Apple in the US or Canada. You need to inquire about Apple Care + from Apple in the country where you'll be going. You mentioned North America. NA is a large continent; where in NA are you going to live? That's where you need to ask. Also keep in mind that Apple Care + covers accidental damage with a co-pay like dropping your phone or getting it wet.

Thanks. Is it the reason why many people either do not use a case or just a thin transparent one ?

I use a thin transparent case just to keep the scratches from my phone. It doesn't protect the phone from getting wet or dropped. But I also purchased Apple Care + the same day I got my phone. I figure the phone costs $700 to replace so the extra bucks for Apple Care + is worth it. I might never need it but if I need it just one time, it will pay for itself.

So, if I buy Apple Care +, I don't need Otterbox Defender as damaging the phone due to drop will also be covered?

That's up to you. You have to remember that even with Apple Care + there is a deductible that you have to pay if you accidentally damage your phone. The deductible of course is worth it because replacing the phone yourself could cost $700 or more depending on the model. My local Apple Store is only 15 minutes away so that also makes Apple Care + a worth while investment for me. You have to consider your own situation.
