I have been keeping it on 24/7 for last 10 years of my usage. I only have display go to sleep after 10min. Only time I turn it off is when I notice slow down of OS or if Apps keep crashing.

I only ever shut down my MBP if there is an OS update or something has caused me to feel a need for a reboot. When I'm done using it for the day it just gets the lid closed.

My Mini, that's on 24/7. Of course, when I leave home for extended periods, the Mini gets shut down, as does the MBP if I'm not taking it with me. The MBP also gets shut down if I AM taking it with me and I won't use it until I reach my destination (driving more than an hour or so).

I always turn mine off whenever I'm done using it. There's no reason for me to keep it running, sleep mode or not, all night.

I always sleep my Macs and have them last for years. I still have my 2008 black MacBook and it never got turned off. You will never shorten the life by sleeping a Mac. Even way back when I was using HP computers, I always just put them to sleep. I used to run a website on one of them and kept it on 24/7. After three years, I sold it when it was still working.

Until anyone can prove that sleeping the computer can harm it, I will never change.
NEVER?

My brand new rMBP boots up literally in about 10 to 15 seconds. I know that's not as good as instant on, but I just always fully shut down at the end of the day. I guess what keeps me from putting it to sleep is that I don't know what that does to battery life. Something has to keep power flowing to the RAM to keep your session live, right? Or am I wrong about that?
