I've had a lot of trouble using laptops with glossy screens outside. I simply can't see a thing. I've been interested in purchasing an iPad in 2 weeks or so and I was wondering if I will have the same issue using the iPad. Could anyone let me know?

Very difficult viewing the iPad screen in direct sunlight. That is the only time I miss my Nook.

Yes. Even more so with polarized sunglasses. Best used indoors.

Thanks for the replys. Would it help to get an anti-glare screen protector?

Yes, it may even give you an overheat warning and turn itself off if it's warm enough (happened to me for the first time today).

Yes, very difficult to see in bright sunlight.

Some apps and videos are almost impossible to see.

Especially if you are wearing a white or light coloured shirt....

Definetly! I've been using my iPad both with and without an anti glare screen protector. The anti glare is a "night and day difference", though you lose some in resolution I think it's worth it. Cleaning the screen is easier and I like the feel :)

    Use a anit-glare screen protector

I second that. When using a anti-glare screen protector it is usable outside. Though you do loose some of the sharpness of the picture because of the screen protector. Just make sure you turn the brightness all the way up.

Love my iPad but it is worthless if the sun is out, imo

Brightness down or up doesn't seem to help any

Agreed - just got back from my boat. Beautiful day. iPad - useless.
