You are only grandfathered for 2 years if I recall correctly. So might as well get used to being capped now and save!
If we are only grandfathered for 2 years, then that is even more of a reason to keep it as long as we can.

Everyone keeps thinking that their data usage on the 3G network will be the same as it is now, with the new iPhone and apps. But the first time you watch a Netflix movie over the 3G because you don't have access to WiFi, then you might wish you had the unlimited data plan.

New phone and new apps mean greater downloads. AT&T isn't saving you any money, they are counting on data overage charges.

Now had the 2GB plan cost $15 per month, that would have gotten my attention.

Personal vs Business account ...

i am downgrading to $15 plan; the max i ever used 150MB, not a lot of video user here

$180 saved per year; if needed i will up the plan to 2GB.

if your plan is paid by company there is no need to downgrade

there are lots of companies pay for the plan to use your cell number and exchange email config.

Completely agree...

I did it...

I dropped to the 2 gig and my wife's to the 200 mb plan. And I don't care what anybody says. My wife and I save 20 bucks a month... that means more Starbucks for me! LOL.

Personal preference. That's all it is. I personally do not use my iPhone for all the "cool" stuff and use wifi at home if I need to. My wife is not a techno-freak so she uses it more for texting.

In my area there is an abundance of wifi hot spots but honestly I only check my mail and text. I got the iPhone cause I could... and it's pretty cool.

And I'm not convinced it will be any different. People's habits don't change so drastically. Aside from the first month where people will use their phone much more out of excitement, I doubt the average person will use very much more data per month than they do now.

But that uses email correct? Textfree Unlimited now uses a real phone number. So it is faster and more reliable.

I'm not sure what it uses. All I know is that when I send a message I have to select my yahoo messenger account and where the buddy name would normally go I type in their phone number. The other person gets a strange number when they receive the txt, but the people I txt with don't mind. They can send messages to that strange number whenever they want and Beejive pushes a notification. Been doing this for almost a year now without problems.

I don't recommend that you downgrade, unless you're really cash-strapped. But since it's your decision, good luck! :)

I can see both points of view. I'm always looking to cut spending anytime I can justify it. I myself am going to stay with the unlimited since I stream Pandora/Slacker most of the day at work and avg. around 2gb a month. With Netflix, my usage will definitely exceed that. I did switch my wife to the 200mb plan since she averaged like 25mb a month on her BB Pearl. However, about a week later, she told me she wanted my old 3g until she can get a white iphone 4. Now she will be stuck with the 2gb plan I assume since I already downgraded her line. I don't think she will get close to that though and probably would have dropped her down to 2gb anyway.
