Is it just me or are the new Simpsons episodes violent, and just plain weird compared to the older stuff?

Though weird and violent I still want to see the Simpsons go on for a very long time.

I find them very boring compared to the older ones. I guess after 23 seasons and a movie the ideas start to come up short. I honestly think they need to stop, at least for a while.

from comments made during the recently completed contract negotiations with the cast, it looks like new shows will stop after another 2 years

Well, they've pretty much done everything... so everything will come short. Unless they pull a South Park style for a while and do shows based on current events, celebrities or other 'famous' figures.

I no longer watch The Simpsons. If it's on TV and nothing else is, I'll watch it. But I don't go out my way to have each new episode ready to watch.

Futurama on the other hand...

I stopped watching Simpsons a while ago. I still catch the occasional episode while I'm cooking or my flatmates are watching TV, but it's not really funny anymore. And I'm with you on Futurama, I recently rewatched most of the seasons, it's a lot funnier of a show IMO

i still watch from time to time. if i'm going to watch any animated show Archer, Venture Bros., American Dad, or Family Guy take precedent.

I've never been the biggest Simpson fan but I think the past couple of series have (generally) been really good.

Great start, bad middle, so far great end.

I stopped watching them years ago - I think right around when their movie hit or sometime shortly after that. They lost their magic and edge a while ago.

IMHO, I think the Simpsons is falling behind Family Guy as far as the writing goes. But man, they've been doing it for so many years. They're still awesome though.

As far as the violence goes, I don't think it's violent at all. I mean, that new episode where the security guard knows martial arts, it's no more violent than earlier episodes where Fat Tony is punching out his enemies or Bart gets it from Nelson and the gang.

IMO that was back when they were poor. But seriously the last season was really good, the episode about the school bus coverup was just one of the best episodes of a cartoon I've had the pleasure to watch.

If anyone stopped watching from a few years ago, go back and watch the previous series. It's well up to form and almost as good as Futurama. The current one only consists of one episode so far so it could go either way :p.

I don't know about voilent but its weird as compared to the old episodes I mean the old Episodes were comic jewels but the new aren't anywhere as good...... Simpsons have been around so long they had to lose there quality eventually
