Coming from a Note 8, I switched to an iPhone XS 512 on launch day. Been generally happy with IOS and the performance of the phone. I do have one major problem and was wondering if this is a typical user experience, but I experience a lot of buffering when loading video from YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. On my Note 8, videos play fine, but on my iPhone, I find myself waiting for content to load, or at times, buffer midway through.

I've got Verizon unlimited plan and am not being throttled. As a test, I've put my Note 8 side by side with the iPhone on wifi and can see the iPhone stuttering while loading content.

Just wondering if I may have a defective phone and if I should go to Apple for a replacement.

I also went from a Note8 to an iPhone Xs. I have not experienced the stuttering that you mention on the iPhone.

As for the downgrade in size, for me, that's one of the things I did not love about the Note8, namely, the size. I wanted something smaller.

Verizon may be throttling video content. AT&T does unless you pay for the most expensive plan.

To see, go to https://fast.com
It's a speed test off of Netflix's servers. If Verizon is throttling you, you'll only get about 4.5Mbps. If not, you'll get the full speed.

The XS has issues with both wifi and cellular connectivity. Some phones seem to work fine though. It's a crapshoot

Then what on earth possessed you to pick up one of Samsung’s phablet line??
Surely it would have made more logical sense to have gone for the S8 in that case. Plus it would have been cheaper.

I know. I don’t make sense. I really wanted the s pen. And I did enjoy it. But in the end, I didn’t think it was worth living with the size of the phone.

I also wanted to get back to iOS since my wife and kids have iPhones. I’m enjoying the Xs a lot so far. I miss the pen, but I can live without it.

I must always be throttled because unless I’m on a WiFi connection I never get above 4.5/5 Mbps using fast.com

Resetting Network settings was able to fix it. Not sure if it's a perminent fix, however, I've enjoyed the Note 8, the only thing I didn't like was the battery life and size. IPhone is a nice phone but does have its glitches. Still getting use to IOS again.

Out of curiosity, why fast.com, over some of the other Speedtests? DSL Reports happens to be my preferred.

Glad that worked, I get a solid 55mb/s at home over Wi-Fi. The handset is really excellent on all things Wi-fi in my experience
