I updated to the latest iTunes when it came out and jailbreaked my iPad2 flawlessly this morning.
It works effortlessly and without issue.

You will be safe.

What's new is support for textbooks on iPad.

I have 10.5.3 but windows, so I could tell you once the jb comes out for Windows.
