Is it possible to add times to all text messages received and sent? If not how does the iPhone determine which text messages get a time and which ones do not?

Does it already stamp the time in each SMS? On my iphone, each SMS has a date and time on top of the bubble.
There was a thread asking this very question several months ago and nobody was able to figure it out!
It seems to randomly display a timestamp when it feels like it!
Just noticed this too. In the same threaded conversation, it shows timestamps and sometimes it does not.
It only displays times to texts that are far apart from each other (30 min+). I don't think you can change it.
The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any consistency.
In one conversation it puts a timestamp after 23 mins.
In another 34.
Then in another conversation there's a gap of about 40 minutes with no timestamp.

Wait until the jailbreak lol.. biteSMS has a timestamp for every message.
Or atleast in the message window if you press and hold over a certain message it pops up on the side with the timestamp.
Maybe some of you guys can test that, I dont have my 3G anymore as i sold it so i cant check..

This is one thing I hate about texts on the iPhone. I wish there was a time stamp for each sent and received message, wish you could cancel a text, and wish you could see whether a text was received or not (not read, just received).
