Are there any stores that still sell new or Apple refurbed 2015 13'' MBPs? I have seen a few come up using refurb-tracker.com in the last few days but they are always sold out by the time I click through.

Has anyone successfully gotten one of these models recently? Trying to help a friend replace a laptop, they are not ready for USB-C dongle life so hoping to find an old model.

The last time that Apple had them they were still priced like $900 and $1100. The value being 2015 not really there. Beautiful machine though.

Thanks, do you know when you last saw Apple with those refurbs in stock? The cost isn't a huge issue because this is being replaced by insurance, just trying to help this person get the most useful laptop for them.

Can’t remember for sure. Thinking about 6 months. I don’t look at refurb store unless targeting a certain model for purchase.

There were a few on Apple's refurb website just a few days ago, but they got snapped up in a matter of minutes. FYI, I have the refurb website bookmarked, and I'm always checking to see what's out there.

OP:

You might try going to refurbme.com.
Set it up to show ALL configurations offered by Apple (both in stock AND out-of-stock).
You can set it up so that you will receive an email when a desired configuration "comes into stock".

Told you that to tell you this:
When you RECEIVE that email that the item you want is in stock, you'd best buy it immediately.
Because ... 15 minutes later... it will almost certainly be gone...

My opinion only (and others here will disagree vehemently):
The 2015 MacBook Pro 13" is STILL a better buy than any 13" model that came afterwards.
It won't break on you like the new ones will, and it has all the ports you need.

They've cycled through the refurb store in the past month or so, but as you saw, they sell extremely quickly and are not extremely good values.

Great MBP but should be like 25% off. Shouldn’t be $900 for 3.5 year old machine.

You can, but you really shouldn't.
It’s still the gold standard. The successor machines are pretty embarrassing. The Touchbar is a flop and they have a 2 port only machine with the moniker ‘Pro’. The biggest embarrassment is shipping broken keyboards. The MBP QA process is a joke yet Apple seriously sells these flawed pieces of junk.

It's an old machine with a mushy keyboard, whose last example (the ancient MB Air) will be killed off in less than 2 weeks' time.

The successor machines are pretty embarrassing.

I don't think so. All three current MBPs (base models and moderately-specced) are excellent. You won't see someone sign up for MacRumors to open a thread saying "My MBP is working as expected".

The Touchbar is a flop

What??

and they have a 2 port only machine with the moniker ‘Pro’.

You would think there are different levels of "Pro", each of them requiring different performance/ports but all of them requiring the same standard of build quality/battery life. Would you be happy if they named it the "MacBook Amateur"?

I don't know about you, but my keyboard is working perfectly. And at this point - with guarenteed replacements until 2022, by which point my Mac will probably have become a Coke Zero can at your closest 7-11), I sort of hope it fails so I get a new battery...
