Is it possible to downgrade iOS on a non-jailbroken iPhone?

I work in a small QA lab. We have around half a dozen iOS test devices that we use for testing apps. Every time a new version of iOS comes out we have to make a hard decision about which device to upgrade, and which version of iOS to drop.

(Is this how Apple expects all developers to operate?)

We would rather not buy new devices every time a new incremental version of iOS comes out, and not have to drop support for any existing version of iOS because upgrades are not reversible.

We also don't want to test on non-supported, jailbroken devices.

I know that SHSH blobs can be backed up without jail breaking the device. But I can't tell if, with the blobs, the iOS version can be downgraded on a non-jailbroken device. Can this be done? Can you point me to a decent tutorial, as everything I find assumes the device is jailbroken. Thanks!

    You need tinyumbrella.
But you can only start saving blobs that currently apple releases.
So the only thing you will get now is 5.1.1 but it's a start.
