I'm wondering if I can only sign in to Apple Music and not the other iCloud services on macOS? I got a MacBook from work and I don't want to sync all my iCloud stuff (photos, notes, contacts etc.), I only want to have access to my Apple Music. Is that possible?

I think that's no problem; you sign into Apple Music (or the iTunes Store) from within the Music app on the Mac – you don't have to touch any iCloud or system settings to do so.

Thanks, I just tried it and so far it looks good 😊 it seems like (as you already mentioned) those are indeed two different things, because it gives me the option to sign to iCloud as well in the settings app. But apparently it’s not a must, which is good.

Yep, I’m signed into iCloud, etc using my “Work” Apple ID but Music with my “Personal.” Works great!
Did you simply set up a new iCloud account with your work email, right? I'm thinking of doing the same, in case I have to download something from the App Store. And because I can't even update Numbers, Pages etc. without having one apparently.

More or less. My work email can’t actually be used as an “Apple ID” so we create an @icloud.com address to use at work.
