Is it possible to only partially restore an iPhone from an iTunes backup? More specifically, is it possible to only restore selected apps/photos/data from the backup instead of restoring the entire phone wholesale?

I was having problems with my iPhone 6s so I brought it into an Apple store and they were kind enough to replace it. I backed up the phone prior to the store visit so I have a full iTunes backup available. However, I have been restoring phones since the iPhone 4, so I decided to use the opportunity to do a clean install of new apps, installing only what I want. Many of my apps can be logged into and information I need is stored in the cloud and can be brought down without issue. But a few of the old apps had info stored locally and I would like to restore those handful of apps and perhaps some other data piecemeal (such as voicemails/photos which were saved not he phone). I would prefer not to restore the phone from the backup wholesale.

Can this be done? Anyone who has done it have any guidance or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I was hoping that Apple would update that type of thing by now.
It would be great to select to restore only pics, or text messages, game/app progress etc...
It should have been something we could do a long time ago.

I was restoring specific parts of a backup down to individual app data on my WinMo phone in 2009.

Would be nice if Apple managed to move out of the iPod/iTunes era.

I hear you.
iTunes should still be able to manage and select different types of data to restore or transfer back. It shouldn't be all or nothing.
