Is it possible to press the virtual home button too hard?

i had my phone in hand and someone hit my arm. And my reaction was to clamp down to not drop the phone. In the process I pressed the home button harder than I ever would in normal use. I know it's not mechanical but is it possible to damage it with too much pressure (within reason. I'm not the hulk)
