Sure but A) there's no software solution that let's you use a 3G with a sim from a carrier other than AT&T and B) T-Mobile 3G is sparse and on an oddball frequency. You will have EDGE at best.

But the non-3G features (everything but the extra bandwidth on the cell data network) all work fine? As long as it's just the bigger pipe that's missing, the GPS is a worthwhile upgrade to the 3G model IMO.

At this point, what the poster above is referring to, is that there is no unlock for 3G on 2.1. You CAN unlock a first gen 2.1 (or lower firmware) though.

yeah, the solution might be to buy a used 2G iPhone with 2.1 software
and run it on T-mobile.......

or maybe get the new G-1 Google Phone...

anyone try the new google phone ?

From what I've read it has faster data than the iPhone 3G but its web browser blows. Its UI is not nearly as fluid or elegant as the iPhone's either.

you can use it with your existing T-mobile sim card to unlock Iphone 3g..It works fine but the problem is u wont be able to use Itunes, caz sometimes it says that the "inserted sim is not supported" that is the only problem. Also, If you are lucky you would be able to import your contacts from the sim card caz sometimes that features doesn't work either and you find other way around to do that. like Google contact, Neusync, and funambol..etc. but other than that it works all fine....one more thing is that if you are not getting signals then it would say " no sim card" then just turn ur iphone off and then turn it on ...it will be fine...

how would i link it to itunes to transfer music then?
download Dtunes and just download music straight to your phone

and/or download mewseek and pwnplayer..

then go to var/mobile/media/downloads and drag whatever music you want into the download folder and it will be on pwnplayer

I have never had any of these mention problems. I just bought my Gevey sim a few weeks ago, and iTunes has worked fine, and I haven't gotten any error messages or anything of the sort. Maybe that was a problem specific to older models of the card or something.
