I have an Epson v600 USB scanner and local network comprised of a few mac mini's and an old windows 7 machine. Does anyone know if it's possible to share this scanner on the network?

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204790 says "You can share your USB connected scanner with other Macs on your home network"

But I've been playing with it and I don't see how. https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25804 talks about printer sharing but not a word about scanner sharing. Nothing in the help file here or here or here either.

Network scanners work fine, I have a multi-function printer/scanner with AirPrint and I can use that on any Mac. I can share my USB printers too. But with the USB scanner on my Mac Mini, I don't see any way to share.
[doublepost=1484427325][/doublepost]I did find this article: http://www.quepublishing.com/articles/article.aspx?p=2019274&seqNum=4 and the screenshots show "Scanner sharing" in the System Preferences > Sharing screen. Not there in Sierra, I checked El Capitan, Yosemite, and Mavericks - not there either. I do see it in Lion and Mountain Lion, so apparently that feature disappeared with 10.9
