Is it possible to skip/fast forward messages on iOS voice mail?

My carrier doesn't support visual voice mail, so I'm stuck with the basic voicemail.

The only options I can find are to save, delete or play again
Is there any way to skip messages, or fast forward, etc?

Or do I have to play through message 1 to get to message 2, etc?

By basic voicemail you mean the one you call in and use/listen over a phone call basically? If so, those are different and separate from iOS and each one of those systems can be different by different providers and it would depend on the system that is used and options that are offered as far as if you are able to do something any how it works.
