I am considering buying an iPhone X but it's only 64 GB. I really don't think this is enough. Is there any way to increase storage capacity? If not, has anyone found 64 GB to be enough? Does having less storage make your phone slower if it's mostly full?

No idea but so far my 64 GB is enough but since mine is mostly photo's I have the option of optimising the photo's that hold the picture in a smaller size till I need it. That would help alot

No. You can use iCloud for additional storage but it's not extra storage on the device itself. I'd personally get the 256, and wait a few weeks until the new ones come out anyway. It's always better to have too much storage than too little!

You could purchase higher tiers of iCloud storage to offload some data off your phone. There are other photo apps like Flickr and Google Photos that can do that too with pictures.

As other have mentioned, you have cloud services that could serve as additional storage. Think Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, etc. All of these have functionality outside of iOS and Apple and could be used for cloud storage beyond iOS.

Well my predicament is I need to be able to Jailbreak.

64GB is more than enough for me and my usage, but YMMV. As others noted, it's better to have more storage than not enough.

If you open your device and do some soldering and such, then, you can upgrade your storage. YouTube has a guy called Strange Parts, who has successfully upgraded his iPhone 7 Plus from 64GB to 512GB using parts bought from China.

Unlike iPhone 6s, the iPhone X uses a double sided, stacked logic board. The guy on YouTube went through several practice runs using other iPhone 6s logic boards. It's not a picnic with iPhone X.

I would attempt this on a non-primary device only. And your test device better be the same as your primary device, as @JPack mentioned - iPhone X is different internal architecture. So....buy two X's.

Something I do not think anyone has asked yet - what is taking up all of your space? If I am understanding correctly, your concern is that you want to jailbreak... not sure why that needs an increased storage?

The Jailbreak doesn't need increased storage. But the only X I can find with 11.3.1 on it is 64 GB.

How did you do that? I have too many pictures but don't want to delete them.
Go to settings, photos, and you will see an “optimised storage” option, providing you are using somehow latest software (iOS 11 or above). Turn it on, and iOS will only store thumbnails of all your photos on your device. Be warned though, each time you use a photo, it will need to download, which could be a pain to deal with.

Thanks. The only down side is I would need to enable iCloud Photo Library and my wife and I share an Apple ID for iCloud storage and the App Store.

Here are four tips to free up storage space on iPhone

1.Regularly backup and then delete photos on iPhone.
2.Delete downloaded & watched videos and backup the important ones.
3.Remove unused applications.
4.Pay attention to the "Others" - the uncategorized data.

Yep, gotta open the phone up and just slip a new memory chip in.

You've been here since 2011, surely you know by now that most of Apple's products these days are non-upgradable from how they are purchased.
