ok, im on a macbook, and looking forward to the leopard upgrade, im worried about time machine.

in the WWDC keynote, it was said that you could backup to external hard drives or servers.

I dont really want to carry around a external hard drive with me at all times, so i was considering a server.

id really like to have a server at home just to dump everything onto.

So, i was thinking of buying a powermac G4 and sticking a 500+GB HDD in it!

so i have a few questions...

Will i be able to let windows computers throw files on it? I know there is file sharing, but i have tried to enable it, and i cant see my mac from my PC, but i can see my PC from my mac.

Will the G4 (the first look, non quicksilver) be able to handle 500GBs??

will I be able to use it as a server for general files, and a time machine backup?

Will i have to run OS X server for Time machine? or just a general OS X client?

Could i just use a NAS HDD for time machine, instead of a server?

and a general question,

Will i be able to put random files on the time machine backup disk? or does it require a dedicated drive?

I know most users wont know this so i guess its up to pirates, and developers who have paid for the leopard preview!

Thanks,

will i be able to boot straight to that drive if i run it off a PCI card?

i'm not sure about the time machine question.
