I recently made a new setup where I'm using my 2019 15" base model MacBook Pro along with 2 24" 4K LG Ultrafine monitors I had bought from Apple. I have 2 live TV streams going at the same time along with a couple live charts, and several live data feeds on the 2 external monitors, and everything else such as web browsing on my laptop.

The fan NEVER turns off and is often times running on high. Is this safe?

Don't all Macs throttle the processor to protect against overheating (along with help of the fans, of course) if necessary? So I don't think it's unsafe, but that fan noise would drive me bonkers. I'd have to buy long cables and move the actual MPB away from my workspace.

I'm not sure, but everything is working great. I'm really impressed and amazed by how well it performs despite all the programs and operations I am running at the same time. From what I can tell, it's running as smoothly and as fast as it normally does even if I only have basic applications open like calendar.

To clarify, I am actually mainly using the laptop. The 2 screens are on the side. The fan doesn't really bother me, it is on the quiet side relative to PCs which I have used in the past. Those were very loud. I also usually have the volume on so it's not that bad.

I think that’s always been the case with 15” machines, the fans are running constantly even if you can’t hear them. Obviously it’s slightly unusual if they are constantly audible (unless you’re in a silent room?)

The room is silent sometimes when I'm have volume turned off for various things like TV or music. The fan is very loud and ridiculously hot too. Not PC fan loud or anything, but it is quite audible. I don't mind though. I'm just glad it is working well. I assume everything is in good order.

Certainly safer than the fan not running! Anytime you use the external GPU in pretty much any 15/16 inch macbook the fan spins up, it's using a lot more power and generating a lot more heat. And it switches to the external GPU when you use external monitors

Haha true! Yes I'm glad they are running.

I can't speak enough volumes with how happy I am with this machine. It has exceeded my expectations by a lot.

I don't want to jinx it, but all I have is a 2019 15" base model. Just the standard 6-core/16/256 version with the standard graphics. No upgrades. And yet, I am able to run so much on it at the same time without a single hiccup or stutter.

As much as I have hooked up, I would never expected it to run so smoothly. 2 4K monitors running live video, one of them at like 1080 60fps? Live data feeds? Then my regular work including a youtube video every now and then often times in 4k? My homepod minis blasting, bluetooth connected to a device or two, iphone charging

Unreal performance. Does it get hot? Yeah, but still super quiet fans relative to PCs. Not even close.

hook up the monitor with HDMI instead of lighting. That solved my problem. Not sure about quality of picture.
