If you're hoping to find bugs, and look to give detailed feedback about those bugs to Apple so it improves iOS, then the public beta's for you.

If you want a reliable and stable OS on your daily driver, then don't get the beta.

Backup and then under itunes preferences > backups > ARCHIVE your backup

then upgrade from public stable to public beta, it will go just fine.
If it fails: restore from itunes backup
