Is it safe to download apps from promo codes?

I'm just wondering, the promo from a site directed me to the App Store so I thought it was secure but I'm just curious if it is safe or should I change my apple password to be better safe than sorry. I never did that before so I just wanna make sure.

The AppStore is "safe", safe as in 99.999%, Apple's test all Apps and it is rare Apps slip through but it happened before.
Security is tight too but nothing is 100% guaranteed.
