Hello everyone,

I'm using my phone mainly for my work (medical practice/appointment app), for teaching at university, AND for taking beautiful pictures as my main device (i'm not using my DSLR anymore to be hnoest) and for small gaming. Like everyone here I guess.

I currently own a iphone 11. Nothing to say about it, pretty happy withj it, I just need a bigger screen. So i'm looking to upgrade to à 13 pro Max. But iphone 14 is almost there...

So right now i' don't know if it's the right time to upgrade:

Euro price here:

13 Pro Max 128Go: 1259€
13 Pro Max 256Go: 1379€
14 Pro Max: probably 100$/€ more, so 1359€ for 128Go. See the dilemma? For almost the same price I will have 256 go instead of 128, but with a 1 year old phone.

I will probably sell my phone in 18 or 24 months. So i don't know if it's more interesting to upgrade to 128, 256 or waithg for 14 128go.

Any advice will be appreciate.

Cheers to everyone and take care of you.

If better, more capacity and budget are your criteria I'd go for the 13PM, or even the 11 or 12PM which would be cheaper. Of course if you can afford the additional cost of the 14, it's only a month or so.

That said, don't let having 'the latest and greatest' stop you from getting something that meets your needs now. My current primary iPhone is a 512GB iPhone 11 Pro Max. I got it five months after the 12PM had launched and around the time where all the rumors were about the iPhone 13.

Suits me just fine. I'll probably end up upgrading the the iPhone 14 (Pro Max?) around the time the iPhone 16 or 17 launches.

Your poll didn't have an answer I felt was appropriate. If you don't need a phone today, I'd wait. If you see the iPhone 14 series in a month or so and still want a 13 Pro Max, you should still be able to find one at a discounted price at that time.

I think it is likely that the pricing will be similar. I would wait until the announcement next month before pulling the trigger.

Thanks fro taking time toi disucss. I don't know from which country you all are, but here in Europe there's many articles about the increasing price of the 14. Perhaps it's something about taxes, I don't know, but it will be more expensive. Pretty sure.

here's one of the source: https://www.phonearena.com/news/iphone-14-price-increase_id141270

I forget to mention that I need to buy it on a 24 months period (kind of leasing), it's because of my professionnal status. It's not really interesting for me to buy it paying the full price in only one time.

Sorry for the poll, i will delete it.

The 13 PM is an extremely capable phone. It may last 2-4 years before it shows its age. I bought mine a month ago and I’m very happy with my decision. Just be aware that year-over-year upgrades aren’t that significant anymore, in my opinion.

Longtime reader, first time caller. I'm having the same doubts, and I'm also in the Eurozone. I've been given an opportunity to buy a 13 Pro Max, but we're in "don't buy season".

With both the rumored price hikes and the 15% YoY devaluation of the Euro (around 0.85 USD in September 2021, around 0.98 USD now), I'm fully expecting that the prices will be higher (they've already increased the 13 series prices by 30€ since launch) for the 14 series — particularly the 14 Pro phones.

I would always go (at least) for 256 GB, and I really want a telephoto. The 256GB Pro Max is currently at 1399€ over here.

And there's also the fact that the Pro phones are completely replaced by the newer models.

I'm seriously inclined to ignore the "don't buy season" and to just throw myself at it. What do you guys think?

P.S.: I'm upgrading from an iPhone 5s. Still works! Great phone. Definitely showing its age.

I am in the same boat as mvreisjr above. I don't have an Apple store nearby, but I am going on a city trip next week and am considering to buy my very first iPhone, a 13 Pro Max. I fully believe there will be a price increase in Europe, even if the price stays the same in the US. I don't see any major leaked features on the 14 series that I would miss. Always on display for example is something I don't use because it eats up way too much battery, so I use screen on upon pick-up.

Aside from all of that, I really want the alpine green and it looks like the 14 isn't getting that.
