I think the idevices are OK ..... for now....

Once the graphics capabilities of the devices, when we get multi-core CPU's & GPU's and more RAM etc, (which could be as soon as next device) get to past console generation level then i think it might start to become more of a problem

Once games can and do start to really look like PS2 and above and maybe we start to see a developer (sponsored by Apple?) do a full-on console level game then the controls might start to appear to be a hindrance

I'd love to see a full-on racer like Gran Turismo done for iOS but i can dream

Allow me to disagree with the equation better graphic = need for better controls.

Controls have little to do with graphic, many games out on iPhone share as sophisticated game-play as "real" consoles' counterparts.

If Apple is waiting for something to happen market-wise, my guess is that that thing is the moment in which the appstore will be perfectly ripen for the next step.
