Take it back, it is still under the one year warranty.

Yeah,I know I love this phone too.I almost wish I didnt find the cracks. But if I didnt find them or I dont take it back I worry these cracks might lead to something worst after my warranty.

I also have a question. I got my iphone on tuesday and now im noticing that at the bottom of the screen it has a little bit of a yellow tint to it. Ill admit that its hard to notice but when you turn the iphone to its side to read an internet article or something, then you can see it pretty easily (or atleast i can since i use it alot.) Is this a normal problem? Are most iphones like this?

I just ask this because theres a slight yellow tint compared to the rest of the whiter screen, and ill admit im being a bit nitpicky so i just wanted to see if this is a common problem and if i should take it back.

Take a look at one of my earlier topics, above ^^

Now, I am on my 6th phone, it is currently in my city but not out for delivery from what I can see. I had to bring this phone to the Apple Store to get another new one sent out, and the guy immediately said I deserved another one.

So, I called and got a very nice woman in CustomerRelations Tier2, and she granted me 150 bucks worth of goodies. I wound up getting the Kingston Battery Pack and Charger, InCase Protective Cover for iPhone 3G, and the new Sony In-Ear headphones. She also through in a screen protector/anti-glare for free. The case and the phone are scheduled to come on Monday, while the protector and the battery are already here.

Interestingly enough, I would have though I would get compensation before the 6th phone, but perseverance is key in situations like mine. They are rare, but do happen.

Also, take a look at this thread, where I found out something quite interesting about the phone I am about to receive this time: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=588596

Hope this helps, and I wish you good luck in replacing your phone!
(BTW, if you got them all replaced at an Apple Store, then they may have a bad batch of Service Phones, like mine did. So, just call 1-800-MY-IPHON, and then tell the Tier 1 Agent that you have gone through multiple phones and this one now have problems "xyz". Then, they will get you to a "product Specialist," or AppleCare Tier1. Then ask if you can get a brand new one rather than an advanced replacement, so you can have piece of mind in knowing that the phone will be good (which is true). Then they will either give you to, or will contact AppleCare Tier2 - Customer Relations, and then they should give you the option to get a customer replacement. This means they will fax you a cover letter, saying that they will replace the phone with a new one, and will charge you if the defective one isn't returned in 30 days. Your credit/debit card number will have to be provided, but NOTHING will be charged/held. Then you fax the papers back and if it is a weekday, an agent from CR - Corporate will send you an email or phone call, saying that the order is processing and you will get an order number to track the progress.)

^That should help you out xD

P.S. If you wind up doing what I said above, please PM me and tell me where they sent your iPhone from, once you have the tracking number.

P.S.S. NOTE: Wait until Monday to do this. Customer Relations and CR-Corporate are NOT in their offices until Monday at 8:30 AM, CST. Then they are their Mon-Fri. 8:30AM CST - 7:30 PM CST. That is the only time the Product Specialists will be able to get you to one of the Customer Relations Reps.

Question for the people who have had multiple iPhones..

Have your replacements have light leak? I bought my 3G not that long ago, it has light leak but I have not had it replaced. The more time goes, the worse it seems to get albeit slightly, and its driving me nuts.

One point of hesitation with me is getting another one and having it also have a problem. I'd rather deal with this one, or do the fix, than have to open box after box looking for a light-leak free iPhone.

Well, my case and others seem to be dissapating with slower demands for the iPhone, and an assumably more experience production line staff. So, I guess we cannot rule out that phone with light leak are still out there, but I DO suggest doing this:

    1) Turn your screen's brightness to 100%
    2) Go to: http://iphonedpt.awardspace.com/
    3) Hite "Black" and then "Fullscreen"
    4) Inspect your screen, rotating it so as to view as much of the screen with the black background as possible.
    5) Look for stuck pixels OR white specs that WONT go away when you wipe them.

If you find the specs (NOT DEAD/STUCK PIXELS) then you DEFINATELY have a reason to return it. This means that dust is getting behind the glass and between the screen and the glass itself. If there are dead pixels, then this is also grounds to complain. Just try to see if there are more than one, because if there is, then they will almost definately replace it. And, if you go through multiple phones from the AppleStore, just do like I mentioned earlier, and call AppleCare, and so on and so forth.

Hope this helps, and that you get your phone replaced to its lovely perfect Apple goodness :D

Amen to that. I told that to one Genius (he was the HEAD GENIUS, MIND YOU), but not in those words, nicer words of course, and not yelling. As well I said we are probably going to diconnect because nobody seems to be helping us, and he said, and I quote, "I don't care if you cancel. It isn't my problem." And then "You can sue us if you want to, we get lawsuits all the time."

We didn't say anything to the manager, whom finally got our phone replaced. But I was about ready to throw the phone in the guy's face. I stayed calm and worked through it.

But Yea, I buy something, and I expect to have it be in good working order and worth the money I payed for it. The phone reps have all actually cared about my problem, only 2 out of 5 in-store geniuses actually cared...

pretty crazy. i can't believe some people are that inconsiderate.
i'm not an *******, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

my experience with the apple people has been pretty good. it's the ATT people i've been having a problem with. the apple guy, who called himself Leonidas, said never go to ATT again and that they only wanted your money. then he set me up with a genius bar appointment, where i got my iPhone replacement by some cute apple bee.
another problem withh ATT, they didn't put me on the unlimited data plan when i got my phone. my bill was $700. the ATT wireless rep laughed when he saw my account. then he fixed it, thankfully.

I just noticed the light leakage but don't know if it bothers me enough to try to get a replacement. Only thing I am doing is debating whether or not to go back to my first gen iphone.

Just replaced my white iPhone due to light leakage. That was my ONLY issue. It started after about 3 weeks. They only asked me if I dropped it, AFTER they said they would replace it.
If you have a light leak, you have a strong chance of collecting dust.
