Is it too risky buying an Apple Watch this September

What I don’t get, in general … all that time waiting for the next version of whatever, you could be enjoying the current version.
Now, if it’s just a short wait, sure. But when people start talking about not just months but years … makes no sense to me whatsoever.
If you can wait until the X, you not only don’t need a watch, you don’t actually want one, either. So stop torturing yourself over it.

I’m thinking more about the fact that every time the most nugatory, vague hint appears in the rumour-verse, YouTube explodes with breathy hustlers who somehow manage to make a living out of spreading industry gossip. It’s getting seriously tedious.
Totally agree…in fact it was reading one of your posts in a similar vein that convinced me to get the AWU recently, rather than wait for the AWU2. Glad I did.
Same boat, bought the AWU a few weeks back, was on the fence waiting for the the new watch line up, but saw this at an amazing price & loving it..
It feels so much nicer on my wrist than i thought it would & glad i opted for the AWU rather than another standard AW. It feels so much better than my previous AW7 SS version.
My fav band is the White Ocean band..

I think of it as the other way - it is risky *NOT* to buy the Apple Watch Series 9 as it will likely be the most advanced watch to work with the old bands.
I bought a nice band for my S4 and am still using it. I am thinking that the S9 may be a good buy for me since it may be the last to use the band I like. Since I obviously don’t upgrade every year that will give me time to enjoy the S9 (or ultra) while things get settled out on the new models.
I think it is imposibble Apple is dropping Series 8/Ultra and Series 6 at the same time although they are using the same CPUs. CPUs are the same but the SiPs are not.
I think it might make your watchband collection incompatible going forward… the watch you buy now will remain compatible. No new watch design will make the current crop redundant.
Will the Apple Watch 9 go the same way as the iPhone 9 though.
My AW 5 is looking a bit tired now so I could do with an upgrade. However I will have a lot of jealousy if I see a new design next year.
