I'd say it completely depends on your body type. If you're athletic and don't have a lot of body hair, then go for it.

On the other hand, if you're covered head to foot in hair it would look pretty silly to trim just your pits.

I'm entrenched in the "keep it trimmed as short as possible" camp. Find it really helps control the BO when I'm at the gym or jogging.

Just to annex them by reference, here are two of the larger discussions we've had on this topic in the last few years.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/566207/
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/262547/

I'd note that the original posters of both threads have had their accounts at MR disabled, but I don't want that to be construed as a threat, or imply that this is a trend that will continue to the current OP or anything. ;)

Also just for fun, NYT did a piece on back shaving this week:

:)

EDIT: Looks like there was one more major one: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/84676/ and its OP is still here, so there may be hope for EV0LUTION yet. :)

Has anyone given the thought to ohhh i don't know maybe showering more than twice a week? Sweat on it's own doesn't stink even with hair involved its bacterial growth on the skin which causes the BO you smell.

I shower almost every day, but I still get body odor. Mainly because I am one sweaty bitch. But sweat does play some part in B.O.

Hairless is just odd looking.

Depends where ;)

As a side note. A friend of mine did a full body wax for charity a few years ago. He was a hairy bugger - chest, back, thighs and other unmentionable areas. All was waxed except his head which was shaved. The screams could be heard from a mile away :p

Shaving them, nope. An occasional trim during routine manscaping, you betcha.

Is it weird for guys to shave their armpits?? I guess europeans do...
Personally I prefer to shave my armpits, it just feels so much cleaner and less smell :) and also leg's too when warranted although a light trim is all that is needed really.

I'm from the UK and I shave mine. I can't stand having freakishly long underarm hair and it definitely helps with the sweating and body odour thing. I see nothing wrong with it and you shouldn't worry what other people think, it's your body and your life. As long as you're happy that's all that matters.

+1 for me. Couldn't have put it better myself.

I just find it a lot easier to stay fresh and it's more comfortable that way. Which reminds me, I need a new trimmer...

Tell me you know that Europe has around 30 countries and spreads out thousands of kilometers. So please don't generalize us. A Brit is different from Slovak, in many ways. Peace
