All I'm going to do if I purchase the NEW Apple TV is stream YouTube videos to my 60 inch plasma. I already have my music in iTunes wireless to my home stereo setup with AirPort thru my Mac. I pay $6.41 for 2 bluray movies a month thru the mail and that is plenty. So do I get Apple TV or is there a better way to steam video. Thanks everyone.

The plus side is that it's only 99 bucks so it won't break your wallet.
The other thing is that you can get an xbox 360 S for $199 with more functionality like stream videos, play videos off USB, netflix, etc and even play the occasional video game.

I don't think it's worth it, not even at $99.
I really fail to see the point of this latest "magical" device from our friends in Cupertino. I don't always want to rent. I don't always want to buy. Now, I don't have an option. How is that better? With the old Apple TV, you could purchase and start watching almost immediately. Now? Nope! How is that better? I've read some posts from people who say you can buy stuff elsewhere, convert it using handbrake and watch it streaming from your Mac. How much of a pain is that? How is that better?😕
Apps on your TV maybe at some point? OK...maybe... Too many 'eh's' & maybes, not enough WOW! Perhaps I'm just too old school to figure this out!😱

What you'reforgetting is that you can still stream from your Mac or PC. You don't HAVE to rent from the iTunes store. You can stream movies or shows you've already bought, and stream from Youtube and Netflix. (for me, those two are worth it for me).
If you don't want to rent, buy it on your computer and it's yours forever. If you don't want to buy, rent it on your Apple TV. Voila, problem solved.

what's the point? youtube is not true HD anyway, you can stream it to a 20 inch tv and it'll look better
I love my old AppleTV. I use it to stream my entire DVD collection that's on my computer, onto my TV. Plus, I use it for music at parties, and to show off my photos. It is definitely worth it.

For me, no. Because the quality of youtube scales poorly to a large TV. But, that's not why I purchased two AppleTVs.

I see that yo get 2 BR by mail montlhy, so do you have a BR player or a PS3. Some BR players come w/ internet functions and are able to play youtube and other stuff. If it's a PS3 then it does 'everything' lol including youtube, if you have a wii, xbox360 they plays youtube also (for the consoles just go to http://www.Youtube.com/TV to watch videos!)
