Hey.

I recently bought a mini 2 last week and saw on it a dead pixel so i will be returning but i wonder is it worth to upgrade to mini 4? The things that i don't like my mini 2 are color gamut problem and 1GB ram (for future) other than that it works fine for me. I want to get a pro when i got some cash and until then i will use my mini. So what's your opinions?

Note: If i want to upgrade to mini 4, i have to pay 50% more in my country. Mini 2 is approximately $280 while mini 4 is approximately $430.

Thank you.

depends on how u use it. i still have a mini 2 and it is perfectly fine for jsut youtube and basic browsing. can't do anythign more crazy than that.

I currently own both. If you're planning on the Mini as a temporary purchase until you can buy a Pro, spend as little as possible (buy the Mini 2) - in that case the 2GB vs. 1GB difference for the future doesn't matter, nor will the color gamut issue (which drives me crazy with the Mini 2, though I am a minority).

I have the mini 2 and with iOS 9 it has slowed down considerably. Plus the colour reproduction on the mini 4 is gonna be better so get it. You'll be using it for years so may as well get the latest one.

I have both. In my opinion, if you're buying a new mini and choosing between the two, the mini 4 is probably a better choice. Along with all the other improvements, the the 2 GB or RAM will mean you can use it longer before you feel the need to upgrade. On the other hand, if you have a mini 2 and are considering upgrading, then I'd wait. I upgraded because I got an unusually good deal on the mini 4, but the mini 2 is still a fine machine.

The main advantages of the mini 4 are as follows:

The speakers are significantly louder.

The screen is nicer. To be honest, this is something I barely notice, but other people are more sensitive to this issue.

Safari tabs reload less often.

It's snappier.

It's noticeably thinner and lighter.

It supports multitasking options the mini 2 doesn't.

Yes the color gamut difference is also on my mind but i c

I'm on a trial period with mini 2 now. It's 16GB. I am already renewing it because of a dead pixel but i am considering the other choices.

16GB mini 2 $285

32GB mini 2 $320

16GB mini 4 $430

64GB mini 4 $500

Where i live the prices are like that.

I would agree with you, except that he's specifying short-term ownership. I'm guessing he'll take less of a beating reselling the 2 than the 4.

Here's a new question. There is $100 between mini 2 32GB and mini 4 16GB. Which one should i pick?

Both are brand new.

Sorry for asking too many opinions.

I would stick with the Mini 4 as the performance difference is night and day to me, the extra GB of ram makes a considerable difference when hopping between apps or Safari tabs as well the CPU/GPU is noticeably faster giving you a much better overall experience.

@Jukens

But it will have 16GB of memory and i really don't know if it will cause problems. Now i'm using mini 2 16GB and there isn't problem about memory but i also want to use garageband and this makes me worried. Is there anyone experienced user here about using garageband with 16GB of memory?

@Andres Cantu

Thank you for your advice but i'm not living in US.
