A friend has asked if I would be interested in making a website for their business. It would be a farly simple site, essentially advertising the business, examples of their work with pictures, maybe video and contact information etc. Would iWeb be upto the job?

Forgot to add, I have NO experiecne of webdesign/HTML LOL

iWeb is actually pretty limited. Hopefully this will change with the next version. If you want to offer to make a site for someone, you should get a WYSIWYG editor that does allow you to do some HTML, something that you are really going to have to learn a little about unless you just want to use somebody else's theme and apply your client's info and graphics. Honestly, that would not really be worth their paying much for at all.

Take a look at Nvu for an easy package that is simple to learn and quite powerful.

If you really want to make sites for clients (beyond this one), you might also want to take a look at Adobe's Dreamweaver. You can get a fully functional 30-day demo version here that should enable you both to build this site and see what you think of the program.

i've been working in web development for almost 2 years now... programing and doing some layout...

and i still would never consider designing a web page myself. because this is the job of a designer.

so, i think what dornoforpyros meant to say is no, iWeb is not all you need.

but as long as you follow the designs iWeb pushes upon you and you just want to make a smallish static page, it should do the job.

just do not go around and ask people money to set up their page with it ;)
