I have been using it for many months and it has not failed me once....Firefox frequently fails to quit....connect and Safari is s l o w to launch....I love Canary...never fails.

I'm reluctant to store all of my personal passwords on strange third-party servers that could be abandoned or taken down at any time. I recommend pwSafe. It is open source and it keeps all of your passwords encrypted in your iCloud storage - nothing is ever kept unencrypted on local storage.

I sync via iCloud to my 1password on my MacBook and iPhone. I don't need the subscription.

And you do not need to pay for 1Password on desktop? I am not talking about the subscription, but the 1 time cost either via Mac App Store or from their site.

You have to purchase 1Password for Mac and download 1Password for iOS which is free (but does have in app purchase for optional Pro features) if you want to sync between Mac and iOS devices. If you don't have a Mac, then all you need is 1Password for iOS.

Yes, that is basically what I thought so too.

I have 1Password and love it. I use the stand alone license and no issues at all. You can also pick how you want your data synced. They do have a subscription, but I don't know much on that.

I've used LastPass for years. Never had a problem. Like others have said, even if they get hacked, your data can't be unlocked without your master password.

But the Master Password is stored with them too? I believe you can still recover your account even if you lose your master password. This is not the case with 1Password.

I have used LastPass in the past - It was a mess. The design of both their website and their browser extensions all looked like.. I won't even say it :p

Edit.. with regards to your thread title, I would say it's as between 91% and 99% reliable.

But that was in the past. I read that they've redesigned their browser extensions. All the power to them.
I'm however long gone and use 1Password and have for many moons.

I would not recommend using LastPass but rather 1Password - but the ball is on your court. Willing to spend some $$ on a password manager like 1Password or simply go free.

I would just say that you should bet on one horse here. The jumping between password managers is cumbersome. It's not like a web browser change of today where there's import and export and a high percentage in completion. In some cases both exist and 1Password can import from a few different password managers. But often you are entering a world of pain.

I'd like to add that if you are a multiple OS user - with Windows and such too - then consider that also - 1Password for Windows also exists. So that's some extra $$ to spend.

It can get rather expensive to get both the desktop and mobile version of 1Password on all eco systems - Android too.

No, it isn't stored anywhere. If you lose your master password, account recovery basically wipes your data and lets you start again.

Been using Lastpass for years. Although u can still revert to "lastpass 3.0" in the GUI, i have no idea when (and if) they will ever take that away but they've been talking about it for some time now.

Your lastpass master password and cache is stored locally, decyryption/encryption all happen locally which "sync"when you online when u have internet connection

This way u can use your vault even when u are offline.... Ive doe this heaps of times without internet conection
