I know this is an old discussion, but just wanted to know your opinion as Lion just launched officially...

Did Apple aim to "dumb" (I don't like this word, sorry if a misused it) or unexperienced iOS users?

That would definitely justify why they simplified Mac OS SO MUCH, intending to attract 'em more and more to the Mac world where users are more experienced.

Just want to know what you guys think about...cheers :cool:
 
I don't see what exactly is much more simplified in Lion compared to SL. The core is still the same with some UI changes.

I woud say it's clear that Apple wants to simplen the OS X given the popularity of iOS and iPad (the main reason for that is simplicity, it "just works").
 
Lion added features to be more familiar to iOS converts (Launchpad). It also added features to be more attractive to power users (Versions). It also made power user features (Spaces) more accessible to more basic users (Mission Control, Full Screen). Nothing was dumbed down.
