I doubt it. They’ll push WWDC up (Or a WWDC Mac will happen earlier in the year). WWDC used to happen in early May anyway. Steve likes to use the codenames. He never said Snow Leopard was 10.6 either, just the seventh major release of Mac OS X.

As for whether it’s 10.7, it’s pretty clear:

"We took our best thinking from Mac OS X and brought it to the iPhone. Then we took our best thinking from the iPhone and brought it to iPad. And now we’re bringing it all back to the Mac with our eighth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system.”

1. 10.0 - Cheetah,
2. 10.1 - Puma
3. 10.2 - Jaguar
4. 10.3 - Panther
5. 10.4 - Tiger
6. 10.5 - Leopard
7. 10.6 - Snow Leopard

And we will have the 10.8, 10.9, and the 11 one. So which names the 10.8 and 10.9 will be given? Flying Tiger? Rover Lion? :D

rover lion :D cougar and lynx are still left and then theres clouded leopard and ocelot as well.

also if it goes to 10.9 it doesnt mean that 11.0 is next  the people that thought 10 cant come after a version point certainly got shown with 10.4.10

I'm putting my money on...
10.8 Lioness
We all knows She is the Ultimate Cat.
"The male has a flowing shaggy mane and takes little part in hunting, which is done cooperatively by the females"

After that Apple will release a new OS altogether.
So new naming but enough in common that Cocoa will run in a compatibility but won't/can't be updated to take full advantage of the improvements the new underlying system brings. CocoaTouch maybe able to run native on this system so everyone will be "Like OMG iOS is taking over, apple have forgotten us Pro's, frowny face"

Hopefully with 10.7 Apple can fix OSX so my Mac Pro can actually go to sleep when it is supposed to.
