I am looking to get a MBA however never having used one I just want to make sure it's correct for me.

I want the 256gb/8/13.3 model

I will use it for home Serato use, playing football manager, browsing Internet and some excel use.

I know everyone will be fed up of these threads :)

Thanks guys.

Bit scary for me going down the SDD route. I am always used to trying to buy the biggest HDD available!

Do you need portability and battery life? Does it have to be a Mac?

If you don't mind paying more for a Mac ultrabook then I'm sure you'll love it.

I have always liked using Apple products and used a MacBook 2008 for a while however I lost it a couple of years ago when myself and my ex split up.

However I am lucky enough where the money side of things isn't an issue at all.

Thanks for your input

You split up with your ex, or you split up and then she became your ex?

just switched to a MBA,

best move ever. I am a student but like doing other things on it. Couldn't be happier with my i7/512gb/8gb. 256 wasn't big enough because I have movies, photos, and music. I use an external as well.

Cool. Personally IMO a $2000 laptop is too much for a student to have but good for you.

well maybe so but I use my computer for majority of my things and having a good computer that will last a long time is important for me.

same here, i came from a mbp to this little bad boy lol (MBA 11" 2011, i5, 4gb, 128gb)
i did need the extra disk space, but i brought a portable 500gb for £40 (wife expecting our first child in september) as money was tight and the price difference for me between the 128gb and 256gb ssd was huge

Seems quite overkill for what you do. The basic 13" model should meet your needs just as well, but hey, it's your money. :)

I would consider the $1299 128 / 8. IMO, if you need more than 100GB, you're going to need a large external drive anyway.

I have had my MBA 13" for two weeks now and am loving every minute with it. Have been a PC and with a few One to One sessions and some reading on line have gotten me pretty comfortable with it.

The speed is amazing. For what you mentioned you usage will be, it will be perfect. You will love that it will take you about 15 seconds from hitting the on button to be on the web...quick quick!
