I am always pleasantly surprised by the audio quality of my M1 MacBook Air speakers. They have this surround sound effect that is very cool when watching a YouTube video with some dialogue. Music, well, it's fine but not ground breaking.

my M2 air sounds decent... with a little tweaking from boom 3D; i don't use the '3D' effect, just the EQ (and a little goes a long way). but sounds pretty good, for what it is.

the mini speaker is, by design, useless (except, as @russell_314 points out, good for 'beeps and stuff'); i've never used it tho.

Apple desktops always have speakers built in. Every Mac mini and Power Mac G3+/Mac Pro has one. As stated above though, they are mostly meant for monitoring system sounds under circumstances where external speakers are unrealistic or simply unnecessary.
Ok. But than its a buzzer not a speaker?

The Air definitely has some ok speakers.
