I don't allow multicast technologies (Bonjour, IGMP, mDNS, UPnP, etc.) or WiFi P2P Casting (WiFi Direct, AirPlay, etc.) features on my network for security reasons. My firewall blocks the entire 224.0.0.0-255.255.255.255 multicast IP range and blocks Tunneled Link Direct Setup (TDLS) connections.

Will Apple TV 4K 2021 work on such a network? Some online sources say it requires Bonjour port 5353, but Bonjour uses multicast IP range that is blocked on my network.

The following are the only outbound WAN ports I allow:
- 80 (TCP)
- 443 (TCP)
- 53 (UDP)
- 123 (UDP)

That is enough for Chromecast, Fire TV, and Roku streaming devices to work. I hope that is enough for Apple TV 4K 2021.

your network is locked down tighter than most corporate networks. and probably way overkill unless you're on the radar of a state run intelligence service for some reason.
any location that has a network network locked that tight will normally not allow any device like an appleTV on it

Your situation probably applies to only a handful of all the appleTVs in the world, so no-one here is going to be able to answer, Why you have over 250 views, and no comments.

You do need mDNS for airplay discovery, their remote app (or any control from a phone), and probably anything to do with homekit.
other than that, outside of talking to (probably higher level) apple support, the only way to find out is to try it out.

AFAIK, Bonjour is not routable so is only relevant on local network and won't work on WAN.
Also, as I understand, it is needed for service discovery only (so that your phone finds the appleTV or the appleTV finds your local iTunes server etc) and is not used in the streaming process itself.

That's what I thought and it is great to hear. Does Apple TV 4K require an account and can the device itself be used to create such an account?

It needs an Apple ID account for store purchases and Home Sharing.
I am not sure however, if it can be set up without logging in.
Theoretically, it should work as AirPlay destination device also without iTunes Store authentication.
Home Sharing won't work without authenticating first.
To create an Apple ID, any browser will do: https://appleid.apple.com
