"The MX150 is touted to be between 2.5-4 times faster than Kaby Lake's integrated HD620 graphics. This isn't much of an achievement for a Pascal-based dedicated GPU like the GTX 1060, but the MX150 manages this performance on a shoestring TDP of up to 30 watts, according to previously released information. Nvidia promises that the new mobile GPU will allow 60 frames per second in today's popular eSports titles such as CS: GO or DotA 2"

what do you guys think?
[doublepost=1496066644][/doublepost]for comparison purposes MacBook Pro’s AMD GPUs are all 35W..

uhh, I know AMD get's a lot of hate (sometimes they deserve it), but why would you want a GPU that's less than half the power of the RX 460 that's in the rMBP 15's right now?

can you elaborate why the radeon pro 460 is two times more powerful?

Because it is? The MX150 is more or less equivalent to the Pro 450, based on the available data. At best, it might be 5% faster. Certaibly nothing to be called an upgrade.

P.S. At lower wattages, Polaris 11 and Pascal offer virtually identical performance per watt. The main reason why GTX 1050 is faster than the Pro 460 is because the former is configured for higher TDP + uses faster VRAM, while the later is configured more for stability (like the majority of professional GPUs)

It would be nice for the 13" rather than the 15, given that small packages like the Xiaomi Air 13 and Acer Swift 3 are able to integrate it. If the 15" went Nvidia, the 1050 would be more its size.

The MX150 is a wash with the 2016 base 15" rMBPs Radeon Pro 450, which is wild in itself. At the same wattage, it's twice as performance as the 940MX or the Iris 650 (in the Macbook Pro touchbar 13). A coffee lake 13" with the MX150 would probably have my wallet wide open.

Intel has its work cut out, if it wants the high end IGPs to be competitive with this in the same wattage bracket.

Whelp...That makes things a bit awkward. The MX150 is a GPU that replaces the 940M, and got nearly double the performance per watt, at the same power draw and end cost. It's showing up in 13" thin and lights like the Mi Air 13 or Acer Swift 3, on the very budget end.

The chart makes it clear why it's a bit unconfortable for the 15" rMBP as it is...But man do I want this in the 13". Granted the relationship between Nvidia and Apple is unknown and may prevent it, but that would be unfortunate given the massive perf/watt advantage, especially over high end IGPs like the Iris 650 in the 13".
