Worked fine yesterday. Today it woke up insisting to be connected to iTunes as if brand new.

Itunes opened up when I plugged it in, and then immediatly pops up this message: " iTunes could not connect to the iPod 'my ipod' because an unknown error occured. (0xE80005D)"

Anyone know what that error code means?
Anyone have a fix?

Thanks in advance.

If that doesn't work, restore it using iTunes.
Thanks, ziggy. Restart had no effect. I eventually (3 hours later) got it running again doing a complete restore. I'd had 3.0 beta firmware one it but the restore refused to replace it and installed 2.2.1. I'm delighted, as 3.0 was extremely buggy, and IMHO not worth installing on a 1st gen Touch.
