I just bought a brand new 2018 15" MacBrook Pro with a 2.2 GHz 6 core processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD and True Tone.

Why is it doing this? (See the pic)

But it's only like 2 days old 🙁

It happens, better now than later so you can get Apple to swap it out for a new one. I had a video card do this on a Mac Pro years ago. I would get on the phone to Apple right away so they can get you a replacement.

True. I paid like $2,600 with taxes and haven't bought any dongles yet or AppleCare. So it's better now than after the warranty expires.

Was this just a one time occurrence or is it always like this? I've had a screen that looks like this when I plug in / unplug a monitor but a restart fixed it right away.

It happens off and on. The first time it happened I was like, "UMM OK...that was weird..."

And just forgot about it and moved on.

Then it happened again, and again, and again.

So that's when I came on MacRumors to get some advice.

You have the base stock model right? Should be an easy exchange if you have an Apple Store nearby.

I got it from Best Buy and I think they said this was the last one they had in stock 🙁

I’ll see what I can do. I’m just dissapointed that it’s in fact a problem. I was hoping it was just a one time thing.
[doublepost=1534372688][/doublepost]OR some kind of fix like in settings or a software patch. Something, anything, lol

Looks like a bad GPU, yeah. Tough luck, but once in a while a lemon leaves the factory. Bummer, but you’ll get a straight-out replacement from Apple, no questions asked.

4th thread today on bad macbook pros
some like some hate
some are working some are broken
sone get received on time some get deliver damaged
some have great experiences, some are going to replace them as they type
seems to me that these MBPs are being manufactured in different areas of China, and even in Sulawesi, Indonesia where their quality control has been know to be corrupt by the locals who lived there, as for china:
some excellent, some horrible.

Well I'm not trying to knock to this computer. I *LOVE* Apple products. This new MacBook Pro I got is not exception.

Do I get mad when Apple was slowing down iPhones? Yes

Do I feel sad if my brand new 2018 15" MacBook Pro has gray lines across the screen off and on? Yes

Do I wish my 13" rMBP charger cable was more durable? Yes

Do I still enjoy Apple products and plan on using them? Yes

You can love a product or a company with the understanding that sometimes things won't be perfect.

That’s too bad ugh

Is there any other reports of this or is it just my luck?

I have a late 2013 13” rMBP that is 2.6/8/256 and hasn’t done this but knock on wood.

It is too early to get a clear consensus on issues people are experiencing, but just like anything you have issues that crop up. Classic Day 1 issues so to speak as everything adjusts to manufacturing a new product. Some kinks will make it through.

Don't feel bad about quickly getting it swapped out.

Now is the best time as well as you'll get a clean new machine swap and not have to endure rounds of repair attempts...

"But it's only like 2 days old"

Take it back.
Even if it was "the last one they had in stock".

What good is the last one they had in stock, if it was a BAD one?

If you DON'T take it back, the onus is gonna be on YOU.

If you have an Apple Store nearby, set up a genius appointment for a hardware check. Even though you bought it from Best Buy, I think you will find they will just swap it out there. I have had them do that for me before. Unless of course you purchased Geek Squad warranty rather than Apple Care. That could complicate it.

"Advice" is just return it. I suspect that you know you have to return it.

My 2018 MBP has not displayed anything like this.

With everything in tow, walk into an Apple store, kick the first employee in the shin and yell, I mean business.

Or

Take it to an Apple store and explain the situation. they should swap it out with a new one.
I’ve seen it a number of time where a device was purchased at a Best Buy and it was swapped at the store.
Apple and Best Buy are somewhat partners now.
