Is my 3GS SIM Free?

Bought an iphone 3gs a year ago from the apple store. Not on contract but i did put a contract SIM in it from O2.

Will it be sim free or does it need to be unlocked to use another network - sadly i don't have another network sim to hand to check.

I think it's locked but o2 will unlock it for free if you want.

Call up 02 and ask.
They can officially unlock it for you.
