That looks about how I wear my leather loop. It still breathes well and doesn’t mess with my circulation at all. I even sleep in it. It’s all about how it feels to you, not how it looks to us. 😉

It's kinda hard to get the right fit with the standard AW bands.

If it's too loose then it will either think you've taken it off and lock the screen or you'll get bad HR monitoring during exercise.

When it's tight you usually get better HR readings but then it can feel like it's constricting blood flow and leave red marks when you take it off.

For some it's fine. For others the holes are too far apart.

I recommend getting the Sport Loop velcro style band if you can't get the standard to fit.

Sport Loop fits everyone and is breathable.

Only downside is that it also holds onto sweat and dirt. But you just wash it in water or soap.
Yeah—much like kickstand cases for tablets, I think watch bands are much better with some kind of magnetic loop. Infinite size possibilities.

I personally think we shouldn't shame people for asking questions.. but eh, that's just me.. maybe they don't know anyone else with an apple watch..

OP I would suggest this article: https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/apple-watch-solo-loop-braided-sizing/
in conjunction with Apple's size tool you can find in this page "Start your measurement" :

to figure it out... compare the sizes with the Sport Loop pictured there in the article

Hello !

I wonder if my Apple Watch is too tight around my wrist.
So what do you think and why?

Thanks !
I use the same band. I found that a brisk walking workout would have gaps in the heart rate data unless I tightened up the band one hole further than I would have preferred. So my measurement for tightness is to use the loosest that still records good data.

Go on the website and print out the measurement for the Solo loop.

I’m pretty sure that then matches the holes on the watch band you are using.

At least it did for me. I use hold 4 and am solo loop size 4.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to let the whole watch and band sink into the wrist
And yes I do prefer the loop, which is a much more breathable and adjustable band

It looks slightly tight but if you’re comfortable then it’s fine. Consider the fact that the size of your wrists do change throughout the day depending on the weather and the activities that you’re doing.

I try to avoid leaving space between the band and wrist. Your watch should not move on its own but should move if you push it. You want the watch to say in place without gaps so that the heart rate readings can be done.

As I posted, I wear the Sports Loop loose, and can easily slip a finger in-between my wrist and the band. If I shake my watch hand, the band moves a bit.

So, there are definite gaps, it can move a bit on its own, and, guess what? Heart rate readings can not only be taken, but are spot on accurate! They routinely and reliably match the rates from a home BP monitor and the ones at doctors' offices.

Don't strangle or pressure your wrist; wear the band comfortably, not tightly; and loosen it if it produces marks or skin indentations. It doesn't even need to be that snug or fixed in place.

Of course, this is with the adjustable, Velcro-based Sports Loop. Bands with fixed holes often put you between a rock and a hard place — or, rather, between a vise and a hula hoop! 😎 Depending on your wrist size, you either choke the wrist or the band flops around. If that’d your situation, switch bands!

thx for posting those photos. and the illustration of the watch with the added line was perfect.

my watch fits exactly the way your photos and illustrations shows - with a slight gap at the extreme edge where the band slides into the watch. this is the most comfortable way and records all data inputs without fail.
this is the way my Solo Loop is on me. my wife has a Braided Solo Loop and it fits this way as well. total comfort.

every time people post photos of the way their watch sits on/against their arm i usually think "wow, that must be painful to wear for hours that tight".

the size/fitting tool that you download from apple has been improved at least twice over the years. and as long as you follow it precisely it generally gives correct band sizes.
