Is My Battery Dead?

• iPhone 3GS only goes to a low battery indicator when plugged into computer or wall charger.
• I can however, get into DFU mode- but I do not want to restore because of important data.
• I fear going to the Apple Store because I don't want to lose any data.

So, back it up first and then do a DFU.

Try a restore. If that fails to improve the battery then off to Apple you go for a repair/replacement.

NOT POSSIBLE. I can only get into DFU mode- on iTunes everything says N/A.

When was the last time you synced the phone thru itunes and did a backup?
The way it is now you wont be able to get the data off the phone.
