...I seem to be having a few issues with my new mac pro
one of them I think is the bluetooth module.

I have a wireless keyboard and wireless mighty mouse, for some reason they lag, I installed iMousecontroller for the MM and it speeds up the tracking but it's still jerky and slow, I am having to revert back to my logitech s300

thing is, I also use bluephone elite to connect my mobile to my Mac and that won't pick up either.
I've had all of these working fine on my macbook pro.

is it a distance thing? my mac pro is on a desk about a meter away from my kb+m so I figured that would be close enough

or is there an issue with my bluetooth module?
is this something that I can look at. I mean can I pull this out and reconnect it (using the mac pro service manual) or is this something that will void my warranty?

finally, is this something they could fix at a genius bar? I just had to wait 2 weeks for it to be built and shipped to me, I don't want to have to send it back

thanks

If you do open up your machine, check to see that the antenna is plugged in all the way on the bluetooth board. Checkout this place for detailed instructions on installation. If you don't ruin anything or break a cable or cause any noticeable damage it won't affect your warranty.

On the other hand, it is quite possible that you have a bum bluetooth board. You should have at least 30 feet of room until you start getting a bad connection. One meter shouldn't be a problem and if it does work while the peripherals are closer than it might be an antenna issue.

After, take it to the genius bar along with your phone and mouse so they can rule out the possibility that it's not just those units having problems with it.

Thank you.
I'm gonna open up the machine tonight and look then if it doesn't help i'll book in at the genius bar for the weekend

I opened the machine and found the bluetooth module,

seems the little gold clasp on the left wasn't in fully, it clicked when it pushed it gently.
the kb&m seem infinitly better and it now picks up my phone too.

guessing that solved it, *fingers crossed*

thanks madog!
