hello,

i have an old imac g5, 20", no camera, it's one of the early '05 models.
it's old, but it works well for me and i'd like to keep it if i can.

in the last week, this has happened 3 times:
- display either goes to gray with some jagged edges, or to black
- i reboot, and there are flickering horizontal lines in the display
- which then disappear and all runs ok.

is this a display issue, or the logic board, or ... what?

Could be the display or graphics card, easy way to tell would be if the problem gets worse when your doing something graphically intensive like playing a 3D game.

Likely a logic board/graphics issue. If it is, it will probably cost more to repair than it's worth putting into that old of a computer

DT&T says they can replace with a refurbished logic board for 295.
which is tempting to me, as a cheap and cheerful solution...
