I have a 2007 MBP with FW 400 and FW 800 ports. I just got a FW audio interface with a 6 to 6 pin firewire cable, and it doesn't work. While troubleshooting, in system profiler under hardware, under firewire, it only says

FireWire Bus:

Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec

Should there be another listing for the 400 port? If my 400 port is fried it's not a big deal, i'll just pick up a 6 to 9 pin firewire cable and use that... but I'd like to know... thanks

maybe somebody with both firewire ports working can post what it says under system profiler for their firewire?

On my early 2008 MacBook Pro that has both 400 and 800 it says Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec. And my FireWire port is not fried as I am currently using it with 3 external hard drives.
