My iPhone had water damage, but it was still functional for a few months, the power button didn't work but i had apps to Lock/Shut down/Reboot.

A few days ago it just stopped working, but it was detectable on the computer so i decided to restore and take it in, the restore messed up. So i decided to send it in to iResQ.

They said the display was failing, and it needed a new logic board, the total cost coming to around $315. More than a new one.

When i got it back it would boot up but i couldn't Slide to unlock. I could however double tap the home button and click Play/Pause etc.

This youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAHkTDtgLq0 shows its problems

Im not eligible for a upgrade until 2010. I have no phone right now. What can i do?

No $199 gets you a whole new/refurb phone if you are under AppleCare

K fine. I stand by what I've said.
$199 to replace or $315 to repair. Who in their right mind would repair under AC? If if it was water damaged does that mean he is FORCED to repair and not replace for $199?

Well that repair price is not from apple. If she would have sent it to apple, or went to apple, they would have told her right there that it would be $199.

Idk why he/she would pay $300...

I thought you could get a replacement for water damage for $199. IDK why he's even talking about the repair cost, other than to just say what they told him.

Hey Jessica....see that earlier post about the syncing of photos. I just want to make sure about something. Thanks.

Your phone come with 1 year of AppleCare protection.

And as the poster above said, (which i didnt know was possible) you can get a replacement for $199 even without AppleCare.

Why they didn't point this out to him at the time is a big question. All they told him about was the repair cost.

Edit: Missed the part about iResQ.

$199 is out of warranty repair for your iPhone. So if your iPhone was damaged in a way that's not covered by your iPhone or if it doesn't have AppleCare, pay $199 they'll replace it for you.

*The article lists $229 Canadian Dollars but it's $199 for you Americans.

Apple US OOW - $199USD:
http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/#warranty7

Apple states that OOW covers liquid damage for example, but not catastrophic damage.

Because his phone was ruined by accidental liquid damage. AC is voided.

Nope...I still don't get it. If I take my vacuum cleaner to a local repair shop, they are not going to tell me I can get a new one at Sears for $150. They are going to say "it will cost $225 to replace the motor".

well... if you hook it up to the charger it will try and boot up, it shows a pineapple and then sometimes a man speaking russian
