Is my leather link too big for my wrist?

It looks fine. Although it looks like you have small wrists so choosing M/L seems odd unless that's the only size you could find..
It looks as if you could go with a S/M. That is what I chose, and it fits well. If you can get into an Apple store, see if you can return/swap for the S/M. Also, if you are considering getting other bands, you can always have Apple size your wrist.
This is me exactly! I'm usually a M/L with my 44mm, Apple Watch 4 band so I got a Midnight Leather Link M/L band for my Apple Watch 7 and I was astonished that i twas too long! So I picked up the S/M and while lengthwise it is indeed shorter, the best fit I get has "4 magnets" free from the top of the watch to the end of the band. I guess it's doable but I wish I get a tighter fit and get one more magnet but I dunno. It generally feels too loose. I was thinking the easy snap on and snap off would attune to the size of my wrist but it doesn't look like it.

I'd guess it's all up to personal choice, and you could use the smaller one too if you'd prefer less looparound.

Just came home from Apple Store today and I switched to S/M one and it’s perfect!It looks fine. I suppose that means you have more magnet protection.
